Bear Weapon Enchants

Just a quick post on weapon enchants now that we have access to Living Steel. Windsong is still our better enchant.

Dancing Steel - Permanently enchants a melee weapon to sometimes increase your Strength or Agility by 1,650 when dealing melee damage.  Your highest stat is always chosen. (12 second buff)

Windsong - Permanently enchants a melee weapon to sometimes increase your critical strike, haste, or mastery by 1500 for 12 sec when dealing damage or healing with spells and melee attacks.  Requires a level 372 or higher item.

At first glace, to the average druid who HASN'T been reading along, (jk) Dancing Steel looks to be the better choice.

Windsong (2RPPM)
Uptime 40%
Ave Stat Weight 0.0243    (Crit+Haste+Mastery)/3
Enchant Weight 14.56

Dancing Steel (1PPM)
        Agi         1650             %Uptime        >14.56

This works out that Dancing Steel needs to have a 30.23% up time.

Time to start watching logs, I will update you guys as I see more actual uptimes from mine and other bear logs.

Note: Basic math:
Enchant Weight = stat weight * amount * % Uptime

  1. You need to account for different proc rates and the fact they use different proc mechanics when you determine the uptimes.

Wingsong has a 2rppm for 12s, so the uptime should be 24s/min or 40% total uptime. The buffs all share the uptime and are not separate. As such you need to average your 3 values, not add them. So the total stat value is 14.9 (using your stat weights).

Dancing steel is 1ppm for a 12s, which leads to a minimum 20% uptime, but as its ppm you should gain extra procs from special attacks. Ferals are managing about a 34% uptime according to Fluid Druid, assuming the same for guardians gives a stat value of 16.8

Therefore using your stat weights Dancing Steel (not living steel) is the better enchant.

  2. Nice, thanks for the information. Working it in.

  3. Trying to track down some more Dancing Steel logs to see uptimes as well. Anyone know of bears that have it atm?

  4. I've worked it out that Dancing Steel has to have at least a 30.23% uptime for it to be better.
